2022 Mercedes-Benz GLC revealed with mild-hybrid tech – Times of India


The GLC SUV is one of Mercedes-Benz’s top-selling models globally, and now, the car has been updated with a new generation version. The India-bound new-gen GLC has been debuted with a newer design, updated tech, and mild-hybrid tech which is standard across the range this time around.
The 2022 Mercedes-Benz GLC is ever so slightly bigger in size as compared to the outgoing model. The SUV measures 4,716 mm in length, which is 60 mm longer than the predecessor, whereas the wheelbase has been increased by 15 mm to 2,888 mm. However, the width of the GLC remains the same at 1,890 mm.

Talking about its design, the new GLC retains its overall shape, but brings along a host of styling updates like the new pair of LED headlamps, a slightly larger & more prominent front grille, as well as a reworked front bumper. The rear-end of the SUV features new triangle-shaped LED tail lights. The multi-spoke alloy wheel design, is of course, brand new as well.
On the inside, the new-gen GLC features tons of similarities to the 2022 C-Class that was recently launched in the Indian market. The SUV features a similar large portrait-styled touchscreen infotainment system running the latest version of Mercedes-Benz’s MBUX operating system, along with a fully-digital instrument cluster.

The new GLC is being offered with mild-hybrid tech as standard, while there are also 3 different plug-in hybrid variants. All variants are offered with 2.0-litre four-cylinder turbo petrol or diesel engines, in different states of tune. The engine makes 201 hp/320 Nm on the GLC 200 4MATIC, 254 hp/400 Nm on the GLC 300 4MATIC, and 194 hp/440 Nm on the diesel-powered GLC 220d 4MATIC.
On the other hand, the plug-in hybrid GLC 300e 4MATIC’s powertrain puts out 309 hp and 550 Nm, GLC 400e 4MATIC produces 376 hp/650 Nm, while the GLC 300de 4MATIC generates 330 hp and 750 Nm. The plug-in hybrid models come equipped with a 31.2 kWh battery pack, which will be good for an all-electric range of over 100 km. The battery can be charged from 0 to 100% in just 30 minutes using a 60 kW DC fast charger.
