Honda Cars India sells 8,188 cars in May 2022: City e:HEV gets a good start – Times of India

Honda Cars India registered domestic sales of 8,188 units in the month of May 2022. The company registered a growth of 302.9% compared to 2,032 unit sales in the corresponding month in 2021. The brand has registered a growth of 418.7% in exports with 1,997 unit sales in May 2022 over 385 units last year.
Sharing thoughts on the May’22 sales performance, Yuichi Murata, Director, Marketing and Sales of Honda Cars India Ltd. said, “The demand for Honda cars continued to stay strong as positive sentiments prevailed in the market but the prolonged supply chain-related issues still remain a hindrance and we are making all efforts to cater to the demand effectively.”
Furthermore, he added, “Our latest launch of Strong Electric Hybrid in the mainstream segment, the New City e:HEV has received an overwhelming response, far exceeding our initial plan, demonstrating that customers are showing strong preference for such advanced technologies in the area of performance, environment friendliness and safety. We are thankful to our customers for their continuous support to brand Honda.”
Honda City has always remained the best-selling car in the manufacturer’s India car line-up. Recently the brand entered into hybrid mobility with the launch of the new Honda City e:HEV at a starting price of Rs 15.03 lakh (ex-showroom). The fully-loaded ZX trim costs around Rs 19.49 lakh (ex-showroom) in the Indian market.
Powering the 2022 Honda City e:HEV hybrid is a Atkinson Cycle 1.5-litre, four-cylinder engine mated to two electric motors. The engine churns out a peak power of 126 hp @2,000 rpm and a max torque of 253 Nm. Honda states that the City e:HEV has a fuel economy of 26.5 kmpl and a range of 1,000 km.
