While the BMW i4 is available in the single eDrive 40 variant priced at Rs 69.90 lakh, the Kia EV6 is offered in two variants – GT Line with RWD configuration, and GT Line with AWD, priced at Rs 59.95 lakh and Rs 64.95 lakh (all prices, ex-showroom) respectively.
Powertrain & Performance
The EV6 RWD gets a rear-mounted electric motor that produces 229 PS and 350 Nm, whereas the dual-motor AWD variant generates 325 PS of max power and 605 Nm of peak torque. Kia claims that the all-wheel drive version can sprint from a 0-100 kmph in 5.2 seconds.
In contrast, the BMW i4 gets a single rear axle-mounted electric motor that generates 340 PS and 430 Nm, and has a claimed 0 to 100 kmph sprint time of 5.7 seconds. The top speed is electronically limited to 190 kmph.
Battery Pack, Charging Time & Range
Both the RWD and AWD variants of the Kia EV6 are packed with the same 77.4 kWh battery pack. The company claims that the former has a range of 528 km as per the WLTP cycle. A 350 kW DC fast charger will charge the battery from 10-80% in just 18 minutes, while a 50 kW charger will take 73 minutes for the same level.
The i4 is equipped with a slightly larger 80.7 kWh battery pack with a claimed range of 590 km (WLTP cycle), which is still the highest for any electric vehicle in India. With a 205 kW DC fast charger, the i4’s battery can be juiced up from 10% to 80% in 31 minutes.
