Petrol and diesel price in Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata, Chennai, Bengaluru, Hyderabad on August 19 – Times of India

Petrol and diesel prices held steady again on Friday, 19th August 2022. Recently, the Maharashtra government has announced a Value-Added Tax (VAT) cut on petrol and diesel by Rs 5 per litre and Rs 3 per litre respectively. The VAT will cost Maharashtra’s state exchequer Rs 6,000 crore per annum. Fuel prices in Delhi, Kolkata, Chennai, Bengaluru, Hyderabad and other cities have remained unchanged since Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman announced an excise duty cut on petrol by Rs 8 per litre and Rs 6 per litre on diesel.
Petrol price in Delhi today is Rs 96.72 a litre, while diesel price stands at Rs 89.62 a litre. In Mumbai, petrol today costs Rs 106.31 per litre, while diesel retails at Rs 94.27 per litre.

Oil Marketing Companies, such as Bharat Petroleum Corporation Ltd (BPCL), Indian Oil Corporation Ltd (IOCL) and Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Ltd (HPCL) set the fuel prices regularly in line with foreign exchange rates and international benchmark prices. Retail petrol and diesel prices differ from state to state because of local taxes like VAT or freight charges. The Government of India announced an export tax cut on diesel of Rs 5 per litre and scrapped tax on ATF.
