Petrol and diesel price in Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata, Chennai, Bengaluru, Hyderabad on August 24 – Times of India

Petrol and diesel prices continue to remain unchanged for 3 months now on August 24. On May 21, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman announced an excise duty cut on petrol by Rs 8 per litre and Rs 6 per litre on diesel. After that, the Maharashtra Government announced a Value-Added Tax (VAT) cut on petrol and diesel by Rs 5 per litre and Rs 3 per litre respectively. The VAT cut will cost Maharashtra’s state exchequer Rs 6,000 crore annually.
Today, petrol price in Delhi is Rs 96.72 per litre, while diesel costs Rs 89.62 per litre. Petrol price in Mumbai stands at Rs 106.31 per litre, while diesel price in Mumbai is Rs 94.27 per litre.

Public sector Oil Marketing Companies, such as Bharat Petroleum Corporation Ltd (BPCL), Indian Oil Corporation Ltd (IOCL) and Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Ltd (HPCL) revise the fuel prices daily in line with international benchmark prices and foreign exchange rates. Retail petrol and diesel prices differ from state to state because of local taxes like VAT or freight charges.
Crude oil price
On Wednesday morning, crude oil prices were seen moving lower as compared to the previous trading session. Brent crude futures were down 21 cents to trade at $100.01 a barrel, while WTI Crude was down 10 cents to trade at $93.64 a barrel, as per Reuters.
