Petrol and diesel price in Delhi NCR, Mumbai, Kolkata, Chennai, Bangalore, Hyderabad on August 26 – Times of India

Petrol and diesel prices have continued to remain unchanged for over 3 months now. Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman had announced an excise duty cut on petrol by Rs 8 per litre and Rs 6 per litre on diesel in May this year. Since then, the Maharashtra Government also announced a Value-Added Tax (VAT) cut on petrol and diesel by Rs 5 per litre and Rs 3 per litre respectively.
Today, on August 26, the petrol price in Delhi is Rs 96.72 per litre, while diesel costs Rs 89.62 per litre. Meanwhile petrol price in Mumbai stands at Rs 106.31 per litre, while diesel price in Mumbai is Rs 94.27 per litre.

Oil marketing companies in India such as Bharat Petroleum Corporation Ltd (BPCL), Indian Oil Corporation Ltd (IOCL) and Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Ltd (HPCL) revise the fuel prices daily in line with international benchmark prices and foreign exchange rates. Retail petrol and diesel prices differ from state to state because of local taxes like VAT or freight charges.
