Petrol, diesel prices in Delhi, Mumbai, Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Kolkata, Chennai: July 18 – Times of India


The petrol and diesel prices remained constant on July 18 for nearly two months now except for Maharashtra. Last week, the Chief Minister of Maharashtra, Eknath Shinde announced a VAT cut in petrol of Rs 5 per litre and Rs 3 per litre on diesel. Oil Marketing companies continue to sell the fuel at the same price in the rest of the cities.
On May 21, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman announced an excise duty cut on petrol and diesel by Rs 8 per litre and Rs 6 per litre, respectively. Today petrol price in Delhi is Rs 96.72 per litre and the diesel price is Rs 89.62 per litre. After the recent VAT cut, the petrol price in Mumbai now stands at Rs 106.31 per litre compared to Rs 111.35 prior, while the diesel now costs Rs 94.27 a litre against Rs 97.28 a litre earlier.

Oil Marketing Companies, such as Bharat Petroleum Corporation Ltd, Indian Oil Corporation Ltd and Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Ltd set the petrol and diesel prices daily according to the foreign exchange rates and international benchmark prices. The petrol and diesel prices are revised every day from 6 am. Fuel prices vary from state to state due local taxes, such as VAT or freight charges.
