316 Govt Staff Faced Graft Charges In 3 Yrs: Cm To House | Bhubaneswar News – Times of India

Bhubaneswar: The vigilance directorate has registered 980 cases against 316 government employees, 10 businessmen and two politicians for corruption in the past three years, according to a reply by chief minister Naveen Patnaik in theassembly on Monday.
In response to a question from Congress MLA Tara Prasad Bahinipati, the CM said that during the same period, the vigilance courts have convicted 182 people in 336 cases.
The cases include those against an IAS officer, who was arrested by the vigilance sleuths in December 2019, suspended and later reinstated in June 2020.
As reported earlier, more than 160 government employees were shown the door — either forced to retire or dismissed from service — for corruption or inefficiency in Naveen’s current term as the chief minister in the past three years since 2019.
In 2021, 92 cases were registered against 11 public servants for alleged acquisition of dispropertionate assets to the tune of Rs 107.6 crore.
