Advocates Demand Pension Scheme For Social Security | Kanpur News – Times of India

KANPUR: On Thursday, Kanpur advocates staged a demonstration in support of their demand for pension for elderly advocates.
Several advocates assembled under the banner of Adhvakta Kalyan Sangharsh Samiti at Kanpur Bar Association gate and demanded the implementation of pension scheme. The convener of Sangharsh Samiti Ravindra Sharma said that due to lack of social security schemes advocates were compelled to work even at old age.
There was a general demand from the chief minister Yogi Adityanath to implement advocate pension scheme under which a pension of Rs 15,000 per month should be given to elderly advocates on the condition of retirement, he said adding, a fixed amount should be made in the budget for easy implementation of the scheme.
Anurag Srivastava general secretary of Kanpur Bar Association said that the pension scheme was necessary for the social security of advocates. ACM V Jang Bahadur Singh, representing the DM, received the memorandum submitted by advocates and said that it would be sent to the CM’s office for necessary proceedings
