Atal Sarige buses scrapped in Bengaluru: AAP criticises Karnataka govt | Bengaluru News – Times of India

BENGALURU: The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) on Tuesday accused the government of disrespecting former Prime Minister and BJP leader Atal Bihari Vajpayee by discounting Atal Sarige buses.
Mohan Dasari, AAP Bengaluru city president, told reporters: “We condemn the BJP-led state government’s decision to stop Atal Sarige buses, which offered subsidised rides [50% of ordinary fares]. This was launched to help poor daily wage workers and women passengers. By scrapping this, the BJP government has shown disrespect to Vajpayee.”
He said the government is anti-people and is stopping all public welfare schemes. “It is unable to distribute shoes, socks and cycles to students and Indira Canteens and the Anna Bhagya schemes are being neglected. The only thing BJP knows is to impose GST on everything and increase the price of essential items.”
TOI had carried an article titled ‘Atal Sarige buses, BS Yediyurappa’s pet project, scrapped’ on Tuesday.
