Curbs relaxed: Swirl & twirl to garba beats till midnight in Gujarat | Ahmedabad News – Times of India

GANDHINAGAR: In a significant decision, the state government on Thursday announced relaxation in timings of Navratri celebrations in the state.
The state home department said in a resolution, “The state government has decided to relax the timing restrictions for the Navratri and Dussehra festival. Navratri celebrations can be held up to midnight (12am) instead of 10pm. Loudspeakers and public address systems can be used until midnight.”
The resolution added, “According to the forest and environment department guidelines, use of loudspeakers and public address systems in non-restricted areas is allowed until 10pm only. However, considering representations which have been made for relaxing the timings during Navratri and Dussehra, the time limit has been extended.”
A key source in the home department said that police officials have been instructed to allow people to enjoy the festival and police should intervene only in situations where there is a law and order problem.
