GREATER NOIDA: The driver and personal assistant of Chinese national Xue Fei (36), who was living in India despite his visa expiring and running an illegal club at a Greater Noida village, was arrested on Friday.
Police sources said he was the caretaker of the club and is suspected to have carried out financial transactions for Fei. A joint team of Beta-2 police station of GB Nagar police and the Uttar Pradesh Special Task Force arrested the accused, Ashok, from the Zero Point on Yamuna Expressway. Police said he is a native of Muradnagar in Ghaziabad and was living in a rented accomodation in Indirapuram.
“Ever since the arrest of Fei, we have been picking up people associated with him, and Ashok was found to be Fei’s driver-cum-personal assistant. Teams were tracking him using electronic surveillance, and on Friday night, he was nabbed from Zero Point on Yamuna Expressway,” Vishal Pandey, additional DCP (Greater Noida), said.
He added that Ashok was produced before the court and sent to judicial custody on Saturday.
“It has been learnt that Ashok was the caretaker of the club busted following the arrest of Fei. He used to deposit funds coming from illegal channels into the bank accounts of Fei’s girl friend. He carried a licensed gun and worked as a bouncer and a driver for Fei,” an officer said.
Another Chinese national, Johnson, is under police radar and the only suspect in the case still on the run. “Police teams have been deployed to nab him,” said an officer.
