VADODARA/ ANAND: Centre has given an extension to Meenesh Shah, chairman of the National Dairy Development Board (NDDB) for a period of another six months.
Shah, who was serving as executive director of NDDB, was given the additional charge as NDDB chairman from June 1, 2021, as the tenure of interim chairman Varsha Joshi ended on May 31, 2021. Ironically, however, the government of India (GOI) has kept the decision on filling up the vacant position of full-time chairman pending for more than a year and a half now.
The process to appoint a full-time chairman was started by the central government in January 2021 even before Joshi’s tenure as interim chairman ended.
The department invited applications for the post on January 18, 2021, after a meeting of search-cum-selection committee that was held under the chairmanship of the cabinet secretary on January 6, 2021.
Many prominent names from the country’s dairy sector were considered for the top position of the national dairy board for which applications were also invited and thoroughly discussed. But the decision was kept pending.
