VARANASI: Three siblings, identified as Krishna (18), Chandan (4) and Ujala (2.5 years), jumped to death from a hill in Machi area of Sonbhadra district on Thursday after allegedly being thrashed and harassed by their stepmother.
The bodies of all three have been recovered by the police. Interestingly, the police registered the case under section 363 (kidnapping) of IPC.
According to reports, Amresh Oraon, a resident of Soma village of Panaura outpost under Manchi police station area of Sonbhadra, had married a woman after his first wife died about two years ago. The man had three children by his first wife, including daughter Krishna, Chandan and Ujala.
Locals alleged that the three children were beaten up by their stepmother frequently and were fed-up with the harassment. The children were getting very upset because of this, and they took this step.
Police said that Krishna left home along with her two siblings on Tuesday evening when her stepmother refused to serve them dinner. Their bodies were found on Thursday. However, the Machi SHO, when contacted over phone on Friday, said that an FIR was lodged under section 363 (kidnapping) of IPC in this regard. The bodies were sent for postmortem.
