Man Blames Mother For Wife Leaving Him, Thrashes Her; Held | Noida News – Times of India

NOIDA: A 45-year-old man was arrested for allegedly beating up his 70-year-old mother in their house at Muhayyapur village. Manoj, police said, attacked his mother with a stick on May 28 as his wife had left him allegedly because of her. A video of the injured woman was shared widely on social media on Tuesday.
“Manoj got into a heated argument with his mother, Jagvati Devi, on May 28. That afternoon only, we had received a call about the incident from a neighbour, following which a police team rushed to the spot,” said Uttam Singh, SHO of Sector 142 police station. “Taking preventive measures under Section 151 of CrPC, we took Manoj into custody. We took the woman to a nearby hospital for treatment.”
On a complaint from the woman’s nephew, Manoj was booked under Sections 323 (voluntarily causing hurt) and 324 (voluntarily causing hurt by dangerous weapons or means) of IPC. He was subsequently produced in a court and sent to judicial custody.
Harish Chandar, DCP (central Noida), said, “During investigation, it came to the fore that Manoj’s wife Geeta used to regularly complain to him about his mother. Geeta left the house on May 27, along with her three children, and went to her parents house in Jewar. She told Manoj that she couldn’t stay with her mother-in-law in the same house. The next day, Manoj got heavily drunk and beat up his mother in a fit of rage.”
The woman sustained grievous injuries all over her body and “she is now at her brother’s place in Bodaki village of Greater Noida”.
