mysuru: Cleanliness Drive In City Ahead Of Pm Visit | Mysuru News – Times of India


Mysuru: With just two weeks to go for the International Day of Yoga (IDY) main event in which Prime Minister Narendra Modi will perform yoga, the city is gearing up to receive him.
The city roads are beautified while special emphasis is given to the cleanliness. The road between Mysuru airport and the private hotel in which the PM is likely to stay on the eve of IDY, roads connecting the palace, and All India Institute of Speech and Hearing (AIISH) are repaired and upgraded to welcome the PM.
“The road repair, cleanliness drive, and other works are taken up on a war footing. Rs 10 crore has been released for this purpose,” said Krishnaraja MLA SA Ramadas. “The roads in which the PM is likely to travel will be repaired beside special emphasis for cleanliness,” he said.
“It has been decided to hire additional workers for cleanliness-related works. Cleaning drive will also be taken up at night. Footpath repair, storm water drainage repair works are also taken up,” he said.
Mysuru mayor Sunanda Palanetra said regular road repair works including asphalting will be taken up from June 18-20. “MCC, and Muda are separately repairing city roads,” she said. Tha mayor alleged that she is kept in the dark over the special grant released to MCC to take up road repair, beautification, and other works related to PM Modi’s visit. tnn
