Mysuru: Narayana Multispecialty Hospital has saved the life of a 25-year-old woman who was fighting against chronic Budd-Chiari syndrome, a rare health condition.
The woman had been experiencing difficulty in breathing due to the accumulation of fluid in the abdomen for the last one year. The doctors have used an advanced treatment procedure direct intrahepatic portocaval shunt to save her. Dr Satheesh Rao of NH on Tuesday told reporters that the patient was admitted with a condition of swelling in the abdomen and had difficulty in breathing. “Her condition was serious as the illness had progressed leading to blockage of hepatic veins. Doctors advised direct intrahepatic portocaval shunt, which was successful. The patient was the first to have undergone a DIPS procedure in Mysuru,” Rao claimed.
