Spurious Ghee Factory Busted, Four Arrested | Kanpur News – Times of India


KANPUR: The city police with the arrest of four persons busted a factory manufacturing spurious ghee operational in Ratanpur here on Monday. Spurious ghee, equipment, branded company cans and other items were recovered. Police said a few suspects were living in a rented accommodation in Ratanpur area of Panki since the past few months.
On a tip-off, Panki police raided the house on Monday morning and found a factory manufacturing spurious ghee. Police arrested Rafiq, a resident of Bihar, Aftab, a resident of Modi Nagar, Ghaziabad, Ankit Kumar and Firoz Khan of Bulandshahr. Nearly 500 liters of spurious ghee, equipment for preparing ghee, cans of branded companies and chemicals were recovered.
Inspector Panki Anjan Kumar Singh said that after the raid, the food department team reached the spot and initiated an investigation. The accused used to prepare fake ghee by mixing a special type of chemical in refined and vegetable ghee. “It was widely sold in rural areas,” he said and added, “Raids are on for the aides of arrested accused.”
