Tamil Nadu: Cars, autorickshaws belonging to BJP, Hindu Munnani cadres damaged in Pollachi | Coimbatore News – Times of India


COIMBATORE: Unidentified people damaged two cars and two autorickshaws belonging to BJP and Hindu Munnani members in Pollachi in Coimbatore district of Tamil Nadu in the early hours of Friday.
Following the arrest of PFI leaders, tension prevailed in Coimbatore city on Thursday night. Unidentified people hurled petrol bombs outside the BJP office on the VKK Menon Road and a textile shop in Oppanakkara Street in Coimbatore city. Stone pelting at two TNSTC town buses was also reported on Thursday.

Pollachi attack

Around 3am on Friday, unidentified people threw plastic covers filled with diesel on a car belonging to BJP member Sivakumar in Kumaran Nagar Second Layout in Pollachi. They vainly attempted to set the car on fire. They damaged the car’s windshields and side glasses. Sivakumar and his family members came out of the house and saw two unidentified people escaping on a motorcycle.
Two passenger autorickshaws belonging to Hindu Munnani member Saravanakumar were also damaged by unidentified people. He parked his two autorickshaws in front of his house in Kumaran Nagar Second Layout on Thursday night. The windshields of the autorickshaws were damaged.
In yet another incident, unidentified people damaged a car belonging to BJP functionary Ponraj of Azhagappa Layout in Kumaran Nagar. The car’s windshield and side glasses were damaged.
Police personnel were deployed in the area to prevent any untoward incidents.
The Coimbatore rural police would register three separate cases in connection with the incidents.
