Tirupur triple murder case suspect found dead in well | Coimbatore News – Times of India

COIMBATORE: A suspect in the recent triple murder case in Tirupur city was found dead in a dry well near Kangeyam on Wednesday.
Muthumari, 38, of Tiruvarur and her sons Dharneesh,9, and Nithish, 6, were found dead in their rented house at Sedarpalayam in Thirumuruganpoondi police limits on May 23. The woman was separated from her husband 10 months ago and was living with Gopalakrishnan from Gujarat. She had moved to the house only a month before the murder.
Gopalakrishnan, who was the prime suspect in the case, had gone underground after the murder. The city police had formed four special teams to trace him. They had collected CCTV footages, which captured his movement while leaving the place after the gruesome murder.
On Wednesday morning, he was found dead in a dry well at Padiyur near Kangeyam. A police team from Kangeyam reached the spot. The body was in a decomposed state.
As the deceased’s identities matched with the suspect in the triple murder case, a team from the city police reached the spot.
A police officer said Gopalakrishnan’s bicycle was also found in the well. It was not clear whether he fell into the well accidentally or jumped into it with the intention to kill himself. The chances of suicide were high, the official said.
Gopalakrishnan, a native of Porbandar in Gujarat, moved to Tirupur district 20 years ago. He was working in a private company as a watchman. He started living with one Mahalakshmi, whom he befriended in the same company in 2013. He murdered the woman and was arrested.
A mahila court sentenced him to seven years rigorous imprisonment. He came out of the prison in 2020.
