Uttar Pradesh: Jeweller on run after thrashing power official, linemen on gunpoint in Ballia | Varanasi News – Times of India


VARANASI: Amarendra Babu alias Bablu- a prominent jeweller of Nagra market under the same police station in Ballia district has absconded after police lodged an FIR against him for thrashing an engineer of electricity department and terrorising his team members with rifle when they had gone to disconnect power supply of jeweller’s house against non-payment of dues.
SP Ballia Rajkaran Nayyar on Wednesday said, “An FIR has been lodged against Amarendra under section 186 (voluntarily obstructs any public servant in the discharge of his public functions), 332, 323 (voluntarily causing hurt), 506 (criminal intimidation), 504 (Intentional insult with intent to provoke breach of the peace) and 353 (Assault to deter public servant from discharge of his duty) with Nagra police station on Tuesday.”
Police seized the rifle of Amarendra and sent report to district magistrate Saumya Agrawal for cancellation of its license, said Nayyar adding, before police could reach his place Amarendra had managed to escape. Team have been engaged to arrest him at earliest, he added.
A high voltage drama was created in Nagra market when electricity department’s junior engineer Tarkeshwar Yadav along with a team of linemen reached Amarendra’s shop- Prakash Aabhushan Bhandar on Monday evening. Yadav was busy in checking the load of connection against meter reading for estimating dues when Amarendra came out of his shop and attacked Yadav and linemen of his team.
Upset over it the linemen tried to retaliate when Amarendra took out his rifle and tried to target them. When Yadav tried to stop Amarendra from opening fire the latter thrashed him again. On seeing it the power employees left the spot.
The video of this incident also went viral on social media.
Later, Yadav reached Nagra police station to lodge his complaint in which he mentioned that on noticing dues worth Rs 20,208 he advised Amarendra to deposit some amount to avoid disconnection of power supply. Reacting to it Amarendra asked Yadav and his team members to disconnect his power connection. However, when they started process of disconnection Amarendra came out with his rifle and started thrashing them and also issued threats of dire consequences, alleged Yadav.
