Civilian injured after terrorists shoot him in Shopian | India News – Times of India

SRINAGAR: A civilian was seriously injured after terrorists opened fire at him in Chidren, Keegam area of south Kashmir’s Shopian district on Wednesday evening, just a day after a 36-year-old Dalit teacher from Jammu’s Samba district was shot dead outside her government school in Kulgam district, also in south Kashmir.
The civilian, identified as Farooq Ahmad Sheikh from Rakh-e-Chidren area, was rushed to a hospital where his condition was stated as stable, said an official. Soon after the attack, the area was cordoned off and a search was launched to trace the perpetrators.
“#Terrorist fired upon one #civilian Farooq Ahmad Sheikh in Chidren, Keegam area of #Shopian. He got injury in leg & has been shifted to hospital. His condition is stated to be stable. (sic)” Kashmir Zone Police tweeted.
Teacher Rajni Bala’s murder on Tuesday morning triggered widespread condemnation and outrage as this was the second fatal terrorist attack on a woman and a Hindu government employee in the Valley this May. It was also the month’s seventh targeted killing — three off-duty policemen and four civilians, with TV artiste Amreena Bhat and Kashmiri Pandit government clerk Rahul Bhat among them.
