mcc: Vacant seats in medical colleges: MCC, Centre playing with students’ lives, says SC | India News – Times of India

NEW DELHI: The Supreme Court on Wednesday expressed displeasure over vacancy of seats in medical colleges in session 2021-22. Noting that as many as 1,456 seats were not filled during the said session, the court said the Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) and the central government were “playing with students’ lives” by not conducting mop-up round of counselling.
The apex court said, “We need doctors and super specialty medical professionals in the country,” adding that if students are not given admission and vacant seats are not filled, then the court shall pass an order and grant them compensation.
The top court has also told the Centre and the MCC to direct their officers to be present in court on Thursday, when it would pass an order.
