With 2,745 fresh Covid-19 infections, India’s active cases rise to 18,386 in last 24 hours | India News – Times of India

NEW DELHI: On Wednesday, India recorded a total of 2,745 new coronavirus infections in the last 24 hours, an increase of 503 cases from the previous day.
This took India’s total tally of Covid-19 cases to 4,31,60,832 so far since the pandemic started in the country.

The active cases increased to 18,386 from 17,698 on Tuesday, according to the Union Health Ministry data. Active cases now constitute 0.04% of the country’s total positive cases.

With six fatalities reported in the country on Tuesday, India’s death toll climbed to 5,24,636 since the start of the pandemic.

Weekly positivity rate in the country currently stands at 0.63% and the daily positivity rate is reported to be 0.60%.
Consequently, India’s recovery rate stands at 98.74%. On Wednesday, the government reported that 2,236 patients recovered from the virus in the last 24 hours. This took the cumulative tally of recovered patients since the beginning of the pandemic to 4,26,17,810. The national Covid-19 recovery rate was 98.74 per cent, the ministry said.
The last 24 hours saw a total of 4,55,314 Covid-19 tests being conducted. India has so far conducted 85,08,96,606 cumulative tests.
India’s Covid-19 tally had crossed the 20-lakh mark on August 7, 2020, 30 lakh on August 23, 40 lakh on September 5 and 50 lakh on September 16. It went past 60 lakh on September 28, 70 lakh on October 11, crossed 80 lakh on October 29, 90 lakh on November 20 and surpassed the one-crore mark on December 19. The country crossed the grim milestone of two crore on May 4 and three crore on June 23 last year.
