Karnataka: Discharged air force college trainee found dead in hostel | Bengaluru News – Times of India

BENGALURU: A 27-year-old discharged trainee of Air Force Technical College (AFTC), Jalahalli, was found dead under mysterious circumstances on Wednesday in an unoccupied room of the college hostel. Ankit Kumar Jha was a resident of Uttam Nagar in New Delhi. His family members suspect foul play behind his death.
Gangammanagudi police registered a murder case against six AFTC officials based on a complaint filed by Ankit’s younger brother Aman. According to police, Ankit left behind a seven-page note in which he mentioned he was taking the extreme step due to disciplinary action taken by the college against him.
He alleged he was forced to sign some documents. “It looks like Ankit died by suicide, and further investigations are on to know the facts,” police said.
Cops have kept his body in a mortuary and are waiting for his parents to arrive before autopsy is conducted. “We have taken up a case of murder based on allegations made by his family members and are waiting for the postmortem report,” said Vinayak Patil, deputy commissioner of police (north).
According to police, the incident came to light around 5pm, when AFTC officials found Ankit hanging in an unoccupied hostel room. He was last seen around 2pm. According to the gist of the FIR, which is available with TOI, Aman told police his brother was murdered at AFTC Bengaluru on September 21. He named six persons attached to AFTC as the culprits and requested cops to arrest them.
“Ankit did not respond to phone calls by his parents, brother and me on Wednesday. So, I went there to check what had happened and officials told me Ankit was no more. Aman left Kochi soon after he came to know about Ankit’s death, and AFTC officials did not wait for his arrival to remove the body,” alleged Richa Thakur, Ankit’s cousin.
She said the suicide note talks about the torture he underwent and how he was forced to sign the documents. He was discharged and was undergoing severe mental stress. Police said the postmortem would be done on Friday. Discharged air force college trainee found dead in hostel
