Google’s answer to Amazon Fire TV Stick arrives in India – Times of India

After weeks of rumours, Google has finally announced the new Chromecast with Google TV (HD) in India. The new affordable Chromecast with Google TV comes two years after the launch of the first one, though it was not launched in India. This is officially Google’s answer to Amazon Fire TV Stick in India.
Google’s Chromecast with Google TV (HD) looks very similar to its predecessor and resembles its rather expensive sibling, the Chromecast with Google TV (4K). It comes in a compact and thin design and plugs into the HDMI port, tucking neatly behind the screen.
Compared to its 4K counterpart, the Chromecast with Google TV (HD) only outputs at a maximum resolution, so it is not ideal for 4K TVs, but it does support HDR. However, if you need a higher resolution, the Chromecast with Google TV (4K) is the one you should buy.
The Amlogic S805X2 chip powers Google’s new affordable Chromecast. It has support for the AV1 decoding codec, which is missing from the 4K model. Further, it comes with 8GB of on board storage and 1.5GB of RAM. As the name suggests, the Chromecast with Google TV (HD) runs Google TV.
The remote is also the same with a dedicated Google Assistant button, buttons for streaming services including YouTube and Netflix and programmable buttons for programmable buttons for power, volume, and input.
The Chromecast with Google TV (HD) has been launched in India for Rs 4,999 and will be available through Flipkart. It will be available at a discounted price of Rs 4,199 on Flipkart during the Big Billion Days sale.
