WWDCC 2022: Keynote to set stage for major updates; iOS 16, new MacBook Air, Apple’s AR/VR headset expected


Barely a few hours left for the highly-anticipated Apple’s Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC 2022). There is considerable excitement in the tech community, mainly to witness the innovations that this five-day event will bring forth.

The free virtual conference will kick start today at 10:30 PM. The conference is expected to present the latest on Apple software and to some extent hardware. New updates are expected on iPadOS, iOS, macOS, tvOS and watchOS.

The WDDC 21 saw upgrades on SharePlay, FaceTime and home screen widgets on iPadOS 15, in 2022, a lot is riding on the notifications setting on iOS. There is also a possibility of Apple launching hardware, especially a new Mac Pro.

All Eyes On MacBook Air

The tech giant is likely to introduce its new MacBook Air at the WWDC 2022 during the keynote address. Popular tech journalist Mark Gurman and key Apple Analyst Ming-Chi Kuo made predictions about the new MacBook Air (2022). While both Kuo and Gurman indicated that the MacBook Air will come in three standard colours.

Gurman had also claimed that the MacBook Pro may not be revealed during the WWDCC. However, recently an Apple authorised reseller was spotted with hidden listings of both 13-inch MacBook Pro and MacBook Air. The MacBook Air is expected to arrive in Gold, Silver, Space Gray and a new Dark Blue shade.

Apple’s AR/VR Set

A lot is being said about Apple’s latest AR/VR headset. While earlier reports suggested that the WWDC 2022 will see the launch of the headset, now it is being said that the Apple fans may have to wait longer. According to the latest reports, Apple’s AR/VR headset will not be introduced until next year. This is due to thermal issues related to the processor. Despite the potential delay, there is still hope.
